Summer Fun

We recently watched a video on how people are not able to swim at thier family swimming holes anymore because they are afraid of lawsuits and getting sued. Tons of places have been banned due to this issue. Do you think that people should be allowed to swim at these places? Do you think they should still be able to sue if something were to happen?

I feel that the people should be able to swim at these local places. I also feel that they should not be allowed to sue because they are swimming at their own risk. If they choose to swim there and they know that something could happen, then they should not have the right to sue the person who owns that property.

new bailout plan

It has been rumored that someone has come up with a new plan for the economy. The plan has been that everyone over the age of 50 would receive 1 million dollars and that they would have to buy an American car. This would stimulate the economy and help bailout the car companies. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not?

I do not think this is a good idea at all. I feel that this plan would send our country into possibly even worse situations. I know that people are not smart with their money and that they would simply waste it on things that they do not need. It would help stimulate the economy but it would also lower the spending decisions of the people over 50. This would lead to other problems in the future.

week 15 blog

Recently in the NFL draft, the Colts chose to pick up a running back with their first round pick. Even though they have Joseph Addai, they felt that this was a good decision to make. Do you feel that the Colts made the right choice of picking up a running back in the first round? Why?

I feel that this was the right decision because the Colt's running attack was the very worst in the NFL last year. I feel that they made the right choice of getting a running back but I do not feel like they chose the right one. I think that they should have picked up Beanie Wells from Ohio State. I think that he is a much better running back and that he could bring more to the table with the Colt's offense.

week 14 blog

A highly talented wide receiver by the name of Percy Harvin had recently failed a drug test just days before the NFL draft. Even though he had not signed to a team already and had no idea of where he was going, he was not penalized for his offense. Do you believe that Percy Harvin should receive some type of punishment for failing his drug test even though he was not in the NFL yet?

I believe that Percy should receive some type of punishment because even though he did not belong to a team, there was no doubt that he would play in the NFL. This type of behavior should not be allowed and all it does is hurt his own team in the end.

Week 12

One of the most recent events that has occured is that President Obama is going to give the graduation speech at the University of Notre Dame. Many people are upset because it is a Catholic university and he has different views on abortion and stem cell research than the Catholic Church does. Do you think that President Obama should be allowed to speak at the University of Notre Dame even though all of this controversy has surrounded him?

I believe that in order to avoid a major conflict and in order to prevent further problems, President Obama should not speak at the University of Notre Dame. I think that by doing this he is causing major problems and is upsetting alot of people. I think that the best option he can take is to just not speak there so that the majority of the university will not be angry at him.

What Would You Do?

In the most recent episode of what would you do, a gay couple was putting on a scene of PDA. Not many people were affected by this. In fact, more people were standing up for the gay couple. They had someone intentionally make fun of them but people became angry when they were being made fun of.
If I were in this situation, I would indeed be a little disturbed by the gay people in the bar. I would not be upset because they were gay but I would be disturbed by the PDA. I would try to ignore the couple and do all I can to not pay attention to them. These types of situations are common and happen everyday.

The Behavior of Athletes

It seems today that athletes have been getting into more trouble than ever before. From DUI's all the way to performance enhancing drugs. The most recent case has been Dante Stallworth who actually killed a civilian because he was driving intoxicated. Do you think that the owners and coaches of different professional sports clubs should put in a little more effort into making sure that thier players are making the right decisions or do you believe that they should just let them go and not worry about it?

I personally think that some measures should be taken to make sure that athletes are doing the right thing. A lot of younger kids look up to these athletes and it sends across the wrong message when they hear about something bad that they have done such as a DUI. These athletes are paid an abundant amount of money each year and I think that when they are being paid this much it is not too much to ask for them to have proper conduct.
